Who's more inspiring, the teacher or the students? From different perspectives, it is often viewed as the teachers who are inspiring, but what makes a good teacher are the children who help build up the inspiration. Whether a teacher, or an average person, those around them draw the lines of who they can become. With every move one makes, they are altering the definition of the people around them, changing what they know, and how they can use that to succeed. As a teacher, that will one day be my job, to help students use what I give to them to better themselves and become the person they were meant to be. To inspire them.
Applying that back to this year, I would like to work with students during genius hour to guide them in the direction of the topic they want to work with, teaching them not only how to's, and why's, but lessons specializing in building a character that they desire to be. Allowing students to teach themselves, helps them to understand who they are, and the possibilities floating inside of them. As a future educator, my goal is to explain the beauty in learning, and to emphasize the wonder of the world. My goals include getting to know these students, so I can prove to the world one step at a time, how inspiring a simple smile can be, and how efficiently learning takes over the world.
