Children are smarter than we all give them credit for. They know how to get away with things simply because we think they "don't know better," but the truth is they do, and they know the people in their life that they can walk all over. And, their high school swim lesson teacher who is recovering from sun poisoning is probably the easiest person to overcome. I've finally found some ways to keep their heads above water and keeping them from wandering off too far, so I have them guard all of the magic wands, (pool noodles) on the wall so the tickle bunny doesn't take them. But, now I struggle to make my little ones trust me. I'm not their mother, and I'm not someone they've ever met before, so why should they trust me with their life? Somehow I need to build up my image so they can trust me. Thinking about trust is my next mission!
